Department Transfers

Once you've made your mark in one department, you can take your career to another. Department transfers let you move between the LSPD, LSSD, BCSO, and SAHP — and completing the journey unlocks Open Role, the freedom to move between them all at will.

How Transfers Work

Once you reach Rank 8 — the top rank within a department — you become eligible to transfer to another. The first time you'll reach this point is on hitting Rank 8 within the LSPD, where every character begins. From there, you'll be able to transfer to either the LSSD or the BCSO.

When you transfer, you're set back to Rank 1 in your new department and have to climb the ranks all over again — only this time in a department with its own jurisdiction and its own set of challenges to master.

Once you reach Rank 8 again in the LSSD or BCSO, you'll have a choice: transfer back to the LSPD, or progress forward to the SAHP. If you move on to the SAHP and reach Rank 8 there a final time, you'll automatically be granted Open Role.

Using the Transfers Page

To transfer departments — or just to check how close you are — open your Esc Pause Menu and go to Department Transfers.

This page shows your current department, your progress towards the next rank, and a progress bar tracking your overall eligibility to transfer. Once you're eligible, you'll see which departments you can choose from. Select the one you want, then click Transfer Department at the bottom to make the move.

Working Towards Open Role
